Our Marine Operations team plays a critical role in our organisation. They’re the experts who go out to survey clients’ ships, appraise designs and offer sound technical advice. They work with our clients to ensure they meet the industry standards that we help to set. Our global organisation offers our surveyors the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the marine industry from colleagues around the world.

Location: Shanghai or Beijing, China
Reports to: Technical Manager

Role summary:
To satisfy immediate demand, our client is looking to recruit a high calibre food safety professional to act as a regional technical specialist, co-ordinate client and stakeholder relationships as well as lead and conduct multi-disciplined assessments delivering ISO and associated sector scheme certification to complex organizations involving multi-site, international clients.

Specific duties:
1. To support the development of new and existing products and services related to the food management systems sector.
2. Act as and represent our client in Asia as a food sector specialist to internal and external clients and other stakeholders.
3. Conduct seminars, workshops and tutor courses to internal and external stakeholders.
4. Undertake client management activities for assigned national and international customers.
5. Lead or participate in preliminary assessments, assessments, follow-up visits, surveillances and certificate renewals to contract and budget requirements.
6. Comply with procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards.
7. Produce verbal and written assessment reports on time and to the agreed format.
8. Discuss and justify the findings of the report and agree the outcome with clients.
9. Undertake necessary documentation, data, administration and communication activities needed to successfully fulfil responsibilities.
10. Pursue CPD and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
11. Develop and coach other employees.
12. Identify new and additional business opportunities; advise clients on services and action any resulting leads.
13. Lead or participate in special projects.

Qualifications:
1. Should have the qualifications and knowledge corresponding to a post-secondary education that includes general microbiology and general chemistry.
2. Shall also have the knowledge corresponding to a post-secondary education that includes courses in the food chain industry category in which they conduct Food Safety Management System audits.

Experience/Knowledge:
1. Has completed ISO 22000 training (preferred).
2. Has experience with a wide range of food products, including but not limited to confectionary, dry and wet food, beverages and other food products.
3. Be a registered lead assessor and has undergone HACCP training or has the audit log background to achieve registration.
4. Has successfully completed training in a) HACCP principles, hazard assessment and hazard analysis, and b) food safety management principles including PRPs.
5. Has a minimum of ten years of full-time work experience in the food-chain-related industry, including at least two years of work in quality assurance or food safety functions within food production or manufacturing, retailing, inspection or enforcement, or the equivalent. The number of years of total work experience may be reduced if the auditor has completed appropriate post-secondary education.
6. Has performed audits for 2nd party of GFSI or ISO 22000 or ISO 9001 in the food industry.
7. Excellent Written and Verbal communication in English and Mandarin is essential
