Our client is active worldwide in life science products, performance materials, polymers and industrial chemicals. The group has annual sales of 6,665 million (Eur) and employs about 22,000 people (year-end 2001) at more than 200 sites worldwide. It ranks among the global leaders in many of its fields. The company's strategy is aimed at generating sales of approx. EUR 10 billion in 2005. At least 80% of these sales should be generated by specialties, i.e. advanced chemical and biotechnological products for the life science industry and performance materials.
Our client currently operates 3 representative offices, 1 wholly owned trading company and 9 joint ventures in China. Our client’s imported products are introduced to customers via representative office. The operations of the ventures include Engineering Plastics, Powder Coating Resins, Unsaturated Polyester Resins and Pharmaceutical bulk actives. Our client has strong interest in China's market. With existing and future investments, it shows long , solid commitments to China.

Reports to: HNH/ South China/Regional Sales Manager

Purpose of the job
To manage and develop a portfolio of customers, in order to achieve the sales objectives.

Responsibilities
1. Develop and execute annual account plans.
2. Manage a number of (international) customers.
3. Realize the sales plans for relevant customers and coordinate technical service.
4. Contribute to marketing initiatives and the preparation of sales forecasts and budgets.
5. Keep abreast of all possibly competitive activities at the customers.
6. Coordinate actions to minimize overdues, bad debts and days of sales outstanding based on information of the Shared Financial Service Center.
7. Build strong relationships with customers and integrate customers and business processes.

Complexity of the job
1. Complex regulatory environment due to use of products in different application fields, ranging from beverage to infant powder and healthy food and others.
2. Facing on the competition, changing and opportunity, making adjustment to beat the competitors.
3. For most customers, personal relationship is the priority. Normally they are not always open to all suppliers.

Requirements
1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in science/technology or business-related field
2. Minimum 3-4 years in account executive and sales manager position within a food/pharma manufacturer or trader.
3. Know-how of industry and markets, in-depth know-how about products and/or applications
4. Balance of commercial and technical know-how, skills and experience
5. Excellent communication and social skills
6. International working experience is better
