A significant step is taken, that is, to help Singapore students learn mandarin in the most effective way. We along with the assistance of key schools has taken this step by organizing the culture exchange program – Top Students’ Trip in China 2003. The program will include studying in local key schools and participating in various activities , also gain an experience for the culture and life of the city by visiting different scenic spots, tourist attraction, museum and monuments in Shanghai.

Students take local lessons taught by certified, mandarin-speaking teachers for 4 hours each morning. During the afternoon, students participate in a full program of study visits, activities and excursions.

We will interact the top schools between Shanghai and Singapore to be sister schools through interscholastic cooperation.

Each top students’ group will be selected by school-self, the demand as below:

* Only 15 Students of one school in each vacation;
* Group age in 9 to 15 (graduate will be limited);
* Top 3 achievement in one grade;

To help Singapore students increase their knowledge of the mandarin language, through daily instruction, communications and activities. Local teachers will

* Help Singapore students improve mandarin language in oral and listening skills;
* Introducing cultures of Shanghai and share knowledge about the great city to them, comparing the differences between China and Singapore based on their own understanding;
* Promoting understanding and friendships between local people and students.
This interchange will be heightened for both teachers and students through a daily program and schedule of classes and activities. Students will be able to learn language as well as the history and culture of Shanghai.
